The Jacksonville Jaguars call ALLTEL Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida their home and each time the players run onto the field in their uniforms of teal, black, and gold the fans go wild. Florida fans are excited for their team and they support them enthusiastically regardless of how many wins or losses are listed on the record books. Although Jacksonville was first declared unable to support a pro football team, the fans have shown unwavering support and devotion from day one. The consistent demand for Jacksonville Jaguars tickets is just one way fans are able to show the true depth of their commitment.
A Struggle at the Beginning
There were 5 cities chosen in 1992 as possible sites for new NFL franchises. Jacksonville was competing with Charlotte, NC, St. Louis , MO, Baltimore, MD, and Memphis, TN. Of all of the possible winners, Jacksonville was the least likely in the eyes of almost everyone on the planet. Florida already had two other NFL teams and the powerhouse college teams of Florida were additional competition.
The poor television market in the Jacksonville area was small in size and had no high ratings, which made one more black mark against the city in the quest for a pro football team. There were also unprecedented problems over the potential ownership of the team if the city were chosen. These problems almost derailed the Jacksonville franchise train from the start. In the last stages of deliberation, the town won its bid thanks in large part to supporters who bought 10,000 Jacksonville Jaguars season tickets in just 10 days.
Highlights to Remember
Although the team has never made it to the Big Game, they have made it to the AFC division championship playoffs. Between 1996 and 1999, Jacksonville Jaguars tickets and merchandise sales went through the roof as the team posted win after win. Jacksonville amassed a record of 4 consecutive post-season bids from in 4 years and played for the AFC title in 1996 and 1999. They also made football history as the first franchise to make it to the playoffs 3 times in the first 4 years.
The 2008 Season for the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 season was not the resounding success that many fans had hoped for. After a great 2007 run, and a 14-2 regular season record, hopes were high for this team to repeat or exceed the previous year’s accomplishments. This was not to be the case as the Jaguars faltered and ended 08 as a team that was spinning their wheels.
Jacksonville Jaguar tickets had been claimed early in the year as both fans and some sports experts expected the Jacksonville franchise to take it all the way to the Big Game. The team was unable to fulfill these lofty expectations, and had trouble finding any wins along the way. Even the Cincinnati Bengals who were struggling through their own 0-8 season still managed to squeak out a 21-19 win over the hapless Florida team.
Like many of the other 2008 games for Jacksonville, the team played hard but “missed opportunities” made the difference between posting a triumph instead of a defeat. All losses that the team experienced in 2008 must have been difficult to accept, but knowing that once again, they were only inches from putting the game into the win column had to be demoralizing. During the next to the last season game Jacksonville was able to fend off the Detroit Lions with a “final seconds” Field Goal and pull out another win, but the effort was too little-too late. The 2008 schedule ended for the Jacksonville Jaguars with the bitter realization that their 5-11 showing was one of the worst records in the franchise’s brief history.
Jacksonville Jaguars Ready to Rumble in 2009
The 2009 year has some tremendous promise as injured players are poised for a return, and new names are added to the roster. Available Jacksonville Jaguars tickets are being sought by fans that are ready to rumble. The 2008 season may not have been the big win that was being hoped for, but you can believe that the Jacksonville Jaguars are anxious to clear the air and taste victory once more. Being one of the teams vying for the AFC title will erase those lingering clouds of doubt that hover overhead at Alltel Stadium.
